OSU's Mike Hass and Alexis Serna named top players in the country at their positions

Wow. Congrats to Alexis and Mike. It is totally deserved for both players. Plus, Alexis gets two more seasons to get better! Simply amazing guys.

Go Beavs!!!

Corvallis Gazette-Times - Hass, Serna bring home national honors

Both Oregon State players made for feel-good stories. Serna made national news for coming back after missing three extra-points in a 22-21 overtime loss at LSU in his first game as a freshman.

Hass finished his OSU career as the first Pacific-10 Conference player with three 1,000-yard receiving seasons after joining the Beavers as a walk-on who did not draw interest from any Division-I program coming out of Portland’s Jesuit High School.

“Oregon State’s two-for-two,” Hass said. “Me and Alexis are the first players from Oregon State to go to the award show and we both won. It’s not a small program like people make it out to be. It shows that you can come to OSU and win awards like USC and Texas.”
The Oregonian - OSU walk-ons walk off with awards
Hass and Serna's achievements were made even more remarkable by the fact both are former walk-ons who didn't have a single Division I scholarship offer between them. It was the first time in the 15-year history of the ESPN awards that Oregon State had a finalist at the show, let alone two individual winners.

It's amazing that a team with a losing record like the Beavs had two players win top awards. The defense really let us down.
