David Lucas signs with Befica in Portugal, and more

The Beavers are not resting on their laurels after the comeback win over UNLV. They understand they need to get better and start playing more consistent. Read on:

Statesman Journal - Beavers moving beyond UNLV comeback win

One of the bright spots this season for the Beavers, in addition to the emergence of Jones, has been the play of fan favorite Liam Hughes.

The 7-foot-3, 320-pound sophomore center has looked like more than just a long-term project. He blocked two shots and scored one point in five minutes of action in the first half of the UNLV game.

"You have to deal with him," John said. "He energizes the whole crowd and he (scored) a point."

David Lucas has found a home in Europe. He'll be playing in Portugal with a couple other Americans.
David Lucas, an all-Pac-10 forward last season who averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds, signed a professional contract last week with Benfica of Portugal.

"It was the right deal at the right time," said Lucas, who is one of three Americans on the team.
