Articles about the Beavers from around the country

With the baseball draft wrapped up, it's always cool to see how the local papers feature each player from both their hometown and new MLB team perspective.

Dallas Buck

D-Backs take Missouri ace with top pick

Oregon State right-hander Dallas Buck, their third-round pick, was 11-2 but drew concern from some corners about a loss of velocity and a tender forearm. Opponents hit only .203 against him this season, and in 2005 he was 12-1 with a 2.09 ERA, leading the Pac-10 in innings and ERA as the Beavers made the College World Series.

“He had a terrific year pitching with some pain,’’ Rizzo said. “Scouting is not all about radar runs. He wins games. He gets people out. He’s a warrior. He’s the kind of a guy we like in our system.’’

Graham is nearly 100 percent now, though, and enters the weekend hitting .287 with 14 RBIs. He is 8-for-8 on steal attempts this year.
